Families & Children to Prosper
Ireland is an expensive country in which to live and raise a family.
The housing crisis and the high cost of living act as a deterrent to family formation.
What We Will Do
Prioritise young couples and families with local connections on social housing waiting lists.
Support the establishment of public banking in Ireland to reduce the cost of mortgages.
Reform the income tax system to include child tax credits.
Link maternity and paternity leave to employment income and cover the first 2-years of the child’s life.
Reduce the cost of childcare by the state taking on the responsibility for paying creche staff.
Introduce tax-exempt savings accounts for children that they can access after their 21st birthday.
Reduce the cost of primary and secondary education by increasing school capitation grants and introducing measures to reduce the cost of uniforms and books.
