What We Will Do
Deactivate the HSE – a wasteful, inefficient, and ineffective organisation that has swallowed up billions of citizens’ money and has produced spiraling waiting lists in return.
Transfer ownership of public hospitals to Staff-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) to reduce bureaucracy and improve patient care.
Introduce a universal, basic health insurance system for the funding of healthcare.
Double the number of GP training places to increase the number of GP’s.
Remove unnecessary regulations and allow Pharmacists and GP’s to offer more services directly to patients.
Increase spending on digital healthcare to reduce pressure on hospitals.
Fund free health check-ups for citizens every 5-years. Early identification of actual or potential medical conditions will help save lives and reduce the future need for costly medical interventions. Prevention is better than cure.
End the costly adversarial approach to medical negligence claims.
Develop a “National Care Service” to support carers and those who require care.
